Beverley
Hello, I’m Beverley and this is my husband, Ian. We’ve been clients of Ernest Grant for around 15 years, and Paul Glover is the chap who looks after us.
Ian
When I first spoke to Paul Glover about my ambitions to retire as early as I could while still having the lifestyle that I had, Paul was able to reassure me that with the salary I had and the bonuses I was receiving, he could put them in the places that would give me what I wanted. We discussed in detail my ambitions about holidays, lifestyle, where and how to live, and Paul gave me the confidence to retire early.
I found out about Ernest Grant through the company I was working with; they were handling the company pension schemes. I was comfortable with what they were doing, so I sought some further advice and spoke to Paul Glover. He told me how I could deal with that pension differently, which would give me a better outcome.
Beverley
When we first spoke to Paul, he made me – particularly, I think – feel very comfortable talking about things that I had no knowledge of. Any questions that I had might have been quite naive, maybe silly, but he made it so easy to ask. And I also felt that he wanted to get to know us.
Ian
We’ve been through some tough times. We went through the 2008 crash, Covid, the Ukraine war, and throughout, Paul has kept us fully informed of what’s going on. When you’re watching the news, which is telling you everything’s going to crash, Paul has been calm, kept us in a very good position, and our finances are stronger coming out of those things than they ever were before. He really helped us through that and gave us the confidence to maintain our target of early retirement.
Beverley
I’m very confident about the future and that we can afford the things that we have planned for our retirement, with enough funds to last us until we’re well into our 90s.
Ian
One of the best things about working with Paul and Ernest Grant is how they put across in our meetings where we stand financially, showing us what the future is. It’s a very simple format, it’s easy for us to understand, and it’s very nice for Paul to explain in simple terms where we are, and where we’re going to be.
Beverley
I would describe Paul as very personable and extremely professional; he inspires confidence.
The best piece of advice we’ve ever had was to come out of the work-based pension and go into a private pension with Ernest Grant. It’s made a huge difference to where we are today and where we’re going to be in the future.
Beverley
I would recommend Paul and Ernest Grant in the blink of an eye to any friends or family who were discussing their financial situation with us, and where I felt that his expertise and advice would help them along their way.
